奧斯洛布位於宿霧島南端，自 2011 年起當地漁民每天早上以小蝦餵食鯨鯊，遊客浮潛或潛水幾乎都能看到。此做法存在爭議，多項研究指出部分鯨鯊的行為已經改變。Oslob is at the southern tip of Cebu. Since 2011 local fishermen have fed whale sharks with small shrimp every morning, so snorkelers and divers almost always see them. The practice is controversial, and several studies have found changes in the sharks' behaviour.

概覽Overview

餵食區位於 Tan-awan。Araujo 等人 2014 年在 PeerJ 報告，2012 年 3 月至 2013 年 12 月共辨認出 158 條鯨鯊，其中 54 條曾被餵食；Thomson 等人 2017 年分析三年數據，辨認出 208 條，約 5 至 11 月數量最多。Schleimer 等人 2015 年發現，不遵守 2 米距離的比例由 2012 年的 79% 升至 2014 年的 97%。

對開的 Sumilon Island 於 1974 年由 Silliman 大學設立海洋保護區，是菲律賓最早的一個。鯨鯊因餵食而全年出現；海況方面，12 月至 5 月旱季最穩定，3 至 5 月海面最平靜，雨季大浪日子會暫停。

The feeding area is at Tan-awan. Araujo et al. (PeerJ, 2014) identified 158 whale sharks between March 2012 and December 2013, 54 of them provisioned. Thomson et al. (2017) analysed three years of data, identified 208 individuals and found numbers peaked around May to November. Schleimer et al. (2015) found that the share of visitors breaking the 2 m distance rule rose from 79% in 2012 to 97% in 2014.

Offshore Sumilon Island became the Philippines' first marine reserve in 1974, set up by Silliman University. Because of feeding, whale sharks appear all year; for sea conditions, the December-May dry season is most stable and March to May is calmest. Feeding stops on rough days in the wet season.

潛水概況The diving

鯨鯊餵食區以浮潛及岸潛為主，屬初級，遊客聽完簡介後乘小船出海，每批有時間限制。Sumilon Island 為船潛，初級至中級，有隨潮汐變形的白沙洲與礁坡。浮潛不需證照，Sumilon 持開放水域證即可。

The feeding area is mainly snorkelling and shore diving at beginner level; after a briefing, small boats take groups out for a timed session. Sumilon Island is a boat dive for beginner to intermediate divers, with a sandbar that shifts with the tide and a reef slope. Snorkelling needs no certification; Open Water is enough for Sumilon.

交通Getting there

由香港飛宿霧約兩個半小時，再由宿霧市乘巴士或包車南下約三至四小時。許多人即日來回；住一晚可趕上早上第一批，人較少。南面乘短程渡輪可到杜馬格特。

Fly Hong Kong to Cebu (about 2.5 hours), then bus or private car south from Cebu City (about 3-4 hours). Many visitors go as a day trip; staying one night lets you join the first, quieter session. A short ferry crosses south to Dumaguete.

實用提示Tips

  1. 不准觸摸、不准使用閃光燈、不准塗一般防曬，並與鯨鯊保持數米距離。
  2. 想觀察自然覓食、沒有餵食的鯨鯊，可考慮 Donsol 或南萊特。
  3. 最近的加壓艙位於宿霧 Mandaue，由此乘車需數小時。
  4. 水肺潛水後搭機前須等待 18 至 24 小時；只浮潛則沒有此限制。
  5. 附近的 Tumalog 瀑布可順道前往。
  1. No touching, no flash and no regular sunscreen; keep several metres from the sharks.
  2. For wild, unfed whale sharks, consider Donsol or Southern Leyte.
  3. The nearest recompression chamber is in Mandaue, Cebu, several hours by road.
  4. Wait 18-24 hours after scuba diving before flying; snorkelling alone has no such limit.
  5. Tumalog Falls is nearby and easy to combine.
