Mactan is a coral island of about 65 square kilometres. Olango Island lies about 5 km east of Mactan; its wildlife sanctuary is a stopover for migratory birds and was added to the Ramsar list in 1994. Gilutongan (also spelled Hilutungan) and Nalusuan are small islets of the Olango group, part of Cordova municipality.

This area also covers northern Cebu, Bantayan and Camotes. The Camotes Islands have 21 dive sites, most off Santiago Beach; Bantayan sites include Oboob Platform, Bugnay Shoal, Virgin Point and Kinatarkan wall. The dry season, roughly November to May, has the calmest sea and best visibility; June to October is the wet season with lower visibility.

潛水概況The diving

PADI Travel 所列的麥克坦潛點以礁牆、珊瑚礁與放流潛水為主。Hilutungan 與 Nalusuan 保護區適合各級潛水員；Marigondon 洞穴約 30 至 40 米深，只適合進階潛水員。教學區流一般較弱，部分海峽與礁牆的流可達中至強。能見度約 10 至 30 米，視天氣、潮汐與浮游生物而定，大雨或強風後會短暫下降。

PADI Travel lists Mactan's sites as mainly wall, reef and drift dives. Hilutungan and Nalusuan sanctuaries suit all levels; Marigondon Cave, at about 30-40 m, is for advanced divers only. Training areas usually have mild current, while some channels and walls run moderate to strong. Visibility is about 10-30 m depending on weather, tide and plankton, and drops for a while after heavy rain or strong wind.

Walls and drifts with eagle rays and barracuda; about 5-40 m, intermediate to advanced.
Tambuli Reef
Aeroplane-wreck artificial reef; batfish, groupers, macro; about 10-20 m, intermediate.
Marigondon Cave
Cave at about 30-40 m with flashlight fish, sponges and snapper schools; advanced only.
Shangri-La Marine Sanctuary
Coral garden reached from the beach; about 5-15 m, all levels.

交通Getting there

由香港飛宿霧約兩個半小時，麥克坦－宿霧國際機場就在島上。麥克坦經 Cebu–Cordova Link Expressway、Mactan–Mandaue Bridge 與 Marcelo Fernan Bridge 三座橋連接宿霧本島。前往 Bantayan 需由宿霧乘車 3 至 5 小時到 Hagnaya，再乘船約 1 至 1.5 小時。

Fly Hong Kong to Cebu (about 2.5 hours); Mactan-Cebu International Airport is on the island. Three bridges link Mactan to Cebu: the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway, the Mactan-Mandaue Bridge and the Marcelo Fernan Bridge. For Bantayan, drive 3-5 hours from Cebu to Hagnaya, then take a boat for about 1-1.5 hours.

實用提示Tips

  1. 部分海峽與礁牆流較強，跟緊導潛。
  2. Marigondon 洞穴屬頭頂環境且超過 30 米，需具備相應訓練與經驗。
  3. 新手夜潛容易迷失方向，初學者宜以日間潛水為主。
  4. 加壓艙位於宿霧 Mandaue，經橋與麥克坦相連。
  5. 大雨或強風後能見度會下降，清早通常最清。

  2. Marigondon Cave is an overhead environment deeper than 30 m and needs matching training and experience.
  3. Night dives can be disorienting for new divers; beginners may prefer daytime dives.
  4. There is a recompression chamber in Mandaue, connected to Mactan by bridge.
  5. Visibility drops after heavy rain or strong wind; early morning is usually clearest.
