In summer the draw is snorkelling at the Hatenohama sandbar; in winter the offshore rock Tonbara offers a chance of hammerhead sharks.

概覽Overview

はての浜位於久米島東面約 5 公里外，分成三段，總長約 7 公里，沒有樹木與建築，需乘渡船或跟團才能登上。潛店與酒店集中在東岸イーフビーチ一帶；奧武島海邊的畳石是 2014 年列為國家天然紀念物的柱狀節理岩，退潮時最清楚。

主季為 6 至 10 月，水溫 27–29°C，4、5、11 月亦可前往；7 至 10 月颱風季時船、渡輪與內陸機都可能停駛。冬季北向海岸浪大，水溫降至二十出頭，很多日子無法前往外海；但 12 月至 3 月是 Tonbara 的錘頭鯊季，屬於有機會而非保證，出發前應向潛店確認當年情況。

Hatenohama is a white sandbar about 5 km east of Kume, in three sections about 7 km long in total, with no trees or buildings; you reach it by boat or on a tour. Dive shops and hotels cluster around Eef Beach on the east coast. On Ou Island, the Tatami-ishi columnar rock, a national natural monument since 2014, shows best at low tide.

The main season is June to October, with water at 27-29°C; April, May and November also work. In typhoon season, July to October, boats, ferries and flights can all stop. In winter north-facing coasts get big waves, the water drops to the low 20s °C and many days are too rough for offshore sites, but December to March is hammerhead season at Tonbara. Sightings are a chance, not a promise; ask shops about the current year.

潛水概況The diving

船潛與浮潛皆有。はての浜周邊與東岸礁湖水淺而平靜，適合體驗潛水，也是颱風前後的後備點。Tonbara 是四邊落深的孤立大石，黑潮支流經過，以放流潛水為主，需具備深潛與強流經驗，海況差時不會出船。西岸與北岸礁石有地形與拱門，是夏季的主要潛區。

Boat diving and snorkelling. The reefs around Hatenohama and the east-coast lagoon are shallow and calm, good for try dives and as a backup around typhoons. Tonbara is an isolated rock with steep sides swept by a branch of the Kuroshio current; dives are drifts that need deep and strong-current experience, and boats do not go in bad conditions. West and north coast reefs have arches and rock formations and are the main summer sites.

交通Getting there

由香港直飛那霸約 2.5 小時，再轉內陸機到久米島約 30–35 分鐘，每日數班；或由那霸泊港乘渡輪，每日兩班：下午班直航約三小時，早上班經渡名喜島約三個半小時。機場在島西面，建議租車或選擇有接送的潛店。

Fly Hong Kong to Naha (about 2.5 hours), then a domestic flight to Kume (about 30-35 minutes, several a day). Or take the ferry from Naha's Tomari port, two a day: the afternoon sailing is direct in about 3 hours, the morning one calls at Tonami and takes about 3.5 hours. The airport is on the west side; rent a car or choose a shop with pickups.

實用提示Tips

  1. Tonbara 的流會突然轉向，必須跟緊導潛並懂得放 SMB；冬季浪大，上下船都要小心。
  2. はての浜四周沒有救生員，潮水與流可把人帶離沙洲，最好跟團並穿著救生衣或浮潛背心。
  3. 公立久米島醫院沒有高壓氧艙，重症需以直升機送到沖繩本島；出事先吸純氧。
  4. 建議住三晚以上，最後一天留作潛後飛行的間隔。
  1. Current at Tonbara can switch direction suddenly; stay with the guide and know how to deploy an SMB. Take care getting on and off the boat in winter swell.
  2. There are no lifeguards at Hatenohama and tide and current can carry swimmers off the sandbar; go with a tour and wear a life jacket or snorkel vest.
  3. Kumejima Hospital has no hyperbaric chamber; serious cases are flown by helicopter to the main island. Breathe oxygen first.
  4. Stay at least three nights and keep the last day free of diving before you fly.
